Freedom, noun, the power or right to act, speak or think as one wants without hindrance and restraint. That was the definition of freedom. But what is freedom? Why would there be a hindrance? Freedom is the freeing of emotions and desires inside oneself. However, we humans often have desires that contradict each other, meaning that only one out of the many can be fulfilled. It is the rules which are keeping humans from getting everything they desire; it is the rules which keep the world running. Even if there are no rules, it will have to take the freedom of lots of people to fulfill the desires of one human, even if the desires can be fulfilled. So in order to keep everyone basically with equal freedom, rules form. However, since the ruler makes the rules and the ruler has desires for themselves, the rules might bend in favor of the ruler. That is when people shout that it is unfair and starts a rebellion, fighting for “freedom”. Yet even if they win, they would need a new set of rules, which might be fairer but still cast out freedom. So complete freedom might not be a good thing after all.
